Christmas 2013 wishlist

Well hello,

this year I don´t really have a lot of things on my wishlist. Usually when I want something I wait for the holidays, but for the last couple of months I bought myself everything I really wanted. Still, for Christmas I would love to get...

1. Mac Pro Longwear Concealer: I have been hearing about this amazing concealer for ages. It is supposed to be great for under eye darkness, which I have a lot of problems with. So far, I haven´t found anything to help me with my tiny problem. So, fingers crossed...

2. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: Every drugstore brand powder seems to make my foundation look cakey. With my oily skin I just can´t go without wearing one, so I was hoping to try this one. It seems to have little coverage, but feels and looks very natural on the skin. That is everything I am looking for in a powder.

3. Mary-Lou Manizer: Even though I love Matt finish for the most part I really like a little highlight on the top of the cheeks. I have heard nothing but great things about Mary-lou manizer. Most of the highlighters tend to be filled with glitter, but not this one as far as I know. I don´t like glitter, so this one will be perfect for my liking.

4. Mac Shy Girl lipstick: I know, I know... Another Mac product. But I can´t help it I am addicted to this brand. You already know about my love for Mac lipsticks. Next one on my list is Shy girl. I just love nude colors with a hint of orange/coral to warm up my skin tone.

What is on your wishlist for this Christmas? Let me know.

Mac Blush in Peaches

Well hello,

ever since I tried a first product from Mac, about three years ago I fell in love with this brand. Beautiful, sleek packaging, long lasting products, great variety, you name it. And lately I have been going crazy with the shopping there.

The latest addition to my Mac collection is a blush. Like most of my purchases lately this was an impulse buy, so I didn´t really have an idea of what I want. Which is probably not the best thing going in a Mac store. Way to dangerous for the wallet. Ha ha. Anyways I decided to grab a blush that I can wear everyday. I have chosen a sheretone blush called Peaches. You now I love corals, especially on my cheeks because they warm up my skin tone. It´s really all I use right now and I love it.

As the name suggest it is a perfect peachy color blush. It´s very soft and sheer, but buildable. Also quite long lasting. The packaging is sleek and compact, travel friendly. I know winter time isn´t really the time for a blush this bright but I think this one is wearable in all seasons. Which is great for a product that is on a pricey side.

Do you own any Mac blushes? Any favourites? Let me know.

Catrice Cosmetics Infinite Shine Lip gloss

Well hello,

I might have mentioned this before but I don´t really like wearing lip glosses. Which is ironic, because when I was little I always sported clear lip gloss and it was actually my first makeup product I have ever bought. I just don´t like the stickiness and the feel on the lips. However, I really like wearing nude lipsticks which sometimes need a small coat of lip gloss to make them wearable, especially the lightest ones.

For that purpose I picked up the Catrice Cosmetics Infinite Shine Lip gloss. The name pretty much says it all. It is extremely shiny formula, almost wet looking. On the lips it feels very light and most important it doesn´t feel sticky. The applicator is quite small but effective. The color I have chosen is 030 Rose, Would You...which is a nice nude, rosy color. This one is shimmer free and quite sheer. It adds just enough color to the lips to pull the look together. Ia actually pretty like this one. I am still not the biggest fan of lip glosses but I quite enjoy using this one. Hope this helps.

MaxFactor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Mascara

before
after

Well hello,

I have been using Maybelline Falsies Mascara for a couple of years now. In my opinion it is one of the best and affordable drugstore mascaras and it is well loved in a beauty community. I don´t usually tend to experiment with mascaras because I always go back to the falsies one. This time I´m glad I did.

I bought the MaxFactor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Mascara on sale, with a recommendation a of a sales girl. She claimed it was the best mascara she has ever used and with a little hesitation I bought the mascara. The color is really intense and the formula is quite creamy. It glides onto lashes and dries relatively quickly. The wand is not anything special but it works for my lashes. The size is just right, big enough for quick application, small enough to fit lower lashes. What I especially like about it  is that is buildable with each coat it gets more intense and lashes look more voluminous, but it doesn´t clamp the lashes together. It can look pretty natural or dramatic, perfect to fit any look.

I have been using this mascara for weeks now and I can see myself sticking to using this one for a while. It also comes in a waterproof form and it is really affordable.

Mac Kinda sexy lipstick

Well hello,

it´s sexy time...well Kinda Sexy! Ha ha. For all you Mac lovers you probably already know what I am talking about. Ever since I bought Mac´s Ravishing lipstick I have been calculating which Mac lipstick I just need and should choose next. And I have chosen Kinda sexy.

I really wanted a neutral shade I can wear with every eye look and in every season. Kinda sexy is a Matt formula which is my favourite finish of all. You would think it would dry out your lips, but no. Its quite moisturizing and long lasting at the same time. The color is a deeper beige, almost brown color with a hint of orange. I'm sure it is catered for darker skin tone, but looks great on all skin tones. It is not the usual nude choice, but beautiful and elegant regardless. I am not at all surprised for choosing this one, because I don´t think the lighter nude, almost concealer nude shade would suit me. And I also wanted something I can wear on a regular basis. The Mac lipsticks have a signature scent. They smell like vanilla. They are a bit pricey, but worth the splurge. What do you think about them? Let me know which one I should pick up next?

Essence All About Matt foundation

Well hello,

my love for make up started with Essence. This was the cheapest brand available in my drugstore perfect for a beginner, hungry for experimenting like me. But ever since Catrice Cosmetics came out, which is Essence sister brand, I kinda forgott all about Essence. I found the products a little better, the packaging prettier and sadly a bit more expensive. Lately I have been hearing a lot about Essence, people raving about them so I visited their stand once again.

I ran out of my current foundation so I picked up Essence All About Matt foundation. I have been using it for about two weeks and I am quite surprised with the results. It claims to be mattifying, oil-free foundation for a flawless and radiant finish that covers imperfections without clogging the pores. The formula should be long-lasting and moisturising, lasting up to 12 hours. First I thought only 12 hours? I am used to foundations and other products claiming to last up to 24 hours, which usually isn´t correct anyways.

The formula is quite liquidy, which makes it easy for application and blending. It can leave streaks. It quickly dries to Matt, silky finish, yet stays radiant. And I love it. This way I don´t have to cake on my powder. It´s quicker and looks more natural. If you have troubled skin this foundation is probably not the answer for you, as it´s light to medium coverage. It also has a quite pleasant sent, nothing too overpowering. Its a shame it only comes in three different shades. Mine is the lightest, Matt Beige or number 10. But as it dries it becomes slightly orange toned and a bit darker. If you are not too light, this should work for you. I mix it with lighter foundation to create the right shade for me. The mattifying effect stays on surprisingly long. It feels light on the skin, perfect for everyday use.

Catrice Cosmetics: All Round Concealer Palette

Well hello,

I have been passing by this product for a while. But lately my dark under eye circles have been bothering me more and more. I haven't heard any good reviews about this one but I couldn´t seem to find anything similar in the drugstore. So I decided to give it a go.

This compact concealer comes in 5 shades. Three beige tones for concealing blemishes, a green shade to counteract redness and lastly a pink shade to hide the dark under eye circles. First I want to mention that the formula is quite creamy, It slightly melts from the warmth of the hands. I find it quite sheer but buildable to some extent. However I wouldn't use it on the blemishes. But it works as an under eye concealer. Between three beige shades the middle one suits me the best, the lightest one is just a bit too light, It will definitely suit light complexion. The darkest one is a bit too dark, perhaps I can use it in the summer time. The one thing great about having these three shades is that you can mix them and create a shade that works for you.

I actually like the green shade. I think it works quite well. I use it on my blemishes to reduce the redness and I put foundation on top. If I´m still not satisfied with coverage I ad some thicker concealer, right now I am using Bourjois Healthy mix concealer, which I love.

I am pretty sure the pink shade should be more salmon and not as pink, but my under eye circles are pretty dark so I guess it works this way too. I can definitely see a difference, but it is probably not the best out there.

This concealer palette comes in a compact plastic packaging, which makes it perfect for travel. And as all the other Catrice Cosmetics products it is very affordable. The product itself is decent, but nothing too crazy. It is not one of those products you just have to have, but good for the beginners to try out.

What do you think about this palette?

Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo: Permanent Taupe

Well hello,

Fall is finally here and I am so happy to use darker, vampier colors. I love wearing statement purple or burgundy lips and I usually combine it with neutral eye shadows and winged eyeliner.

One of my favourite eye product has become Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe. This shade is the most beautiful browny-taupe color. I already own Eternal Gold which i love as well, but this one seems to be more universal in timeless. The color will suit all skin tones and it is wearable in all seasons. It is perfect for day looks or smoky night outs. It can be used on its own or as an eyeshadow base. It is very quick to use. You can apply it using your fingers or brushes. It is buildable but looks stunning sheer as well.

I find it doesn´t crease at all and stays on all day without fading. I like to use it on top of eye primer but it is not necessary at all. And another thing I love about it that it is Matt. It has no shimmer whatsoever. It feels very light on the lids and its very comfortable to wear.

It really is one of my favourite products right now I would definitely repurchase this shade. If you ask me It is a must for the Fall and Winter time. And I am sure I will be buying more shades from their collection.

Do you own any of Color Tattoos? Which shade is your favourite?

Deborah Milano 24 ORE lip pencil

Well hello,

I have been on a hunt for a perfect nude lip liner for ages, but nothing seems to catch my eye. Until now. I found lip pencil that blew me away. With lip liners I find that they are whether to creamy and slide right off my lips or too drying and Matt.

Deborah Milano 24 ORE lip liners seem to be in a perfect middle. I find them very creamy and moisturizing but long lasting as well. The colors are stunning and a great variety. And the price is just right. The color I ended up choosing was not nude but soft pink in number 02. One of those my lips but better shades. Pink shades don´t particularly suit me but this one I adore.

These pencils are very pigmented and good quality. They feel very luxurious on the lips and most importantly they don´t settle in the lines of the lips. You can use them on there own or  as a base for the lipstick. Either way they work very well. Definitely my favourite lip pencil and I will be purchasing some more of these beautiful shades in the future.

Are you familiar with this brand? Which product do you recommend?

120 Eyeshadow Palette

Well hello,

As you might know, It was my birthday a few weeks ago and one of my presents was a 120 eyeshadow palette. I wanted one to play with the colors, see what colors suit my eye color and skin tone the most and to expand my collection a little bit. Because I am a neutrals girl I have chosen the neutral shades. Even though they might seem the same I can assure you the colors are similar but different at the same time. Most of them are matt and slightly shimmery and there are some that are just pure shimmer. I don´t really like those but there are only 5 or so of those so I am not bothered. Some colors are very subtle, some are deep and highly pigmented. There is a good variety of allover the lid colors, crease colors and highlights. The colors are mostly earth tones: Brown, red, orange, yellow and then there only a few pinks, greens and blues, purples, blacks and whites. A perfect variety for daytime and night time looks, from subtle to smokey, the options are endless. The palette has no brand, the packaging is simple, black and medium sized.

I am really impressed with this palette. It was inexpensive for great quality product. A few shadows did come broken, but I can still use those so it doesn´t bother me that much. The only negative I see is that this palette is not suitable for travel. If you want to check it out, here is the link.

Essence STAYS no matter what eyeliner pen

Well hello again,

A few months back in my current favourites blog post I mentioned my obsession with a particular eyeliner pen from Bourjois. I didn´t have a negative thing to say about it with exception of the fact that it was too expensive. Just a little bit. Especially for a product that runs out in a couple of months and you have to keep purchasing it over and over again. Don´t get me wrong. I still thing it is a best drugstore eyeliner pen, but the one I just found comes very close.

Recently I purchased a new product from Essence called STAYS no matter what eyeliner pen. When it comes to Essence you just never know if a product is going to be amazing or a disaster. But with their low prices I am willing to take a risk. And that´s exactly what I did this time.

This eyeliner is suppose to be waterproof but I don´t think it is. The other day while watching a touching movie let´s say I shed a tear and it did smudge a little bit. But that really is the only bad thing about it. The formula is great, it dries fairly quickly and it doesn´t move at all throughout the day. It claims to stay on up to 24 hours. I don´t know about that but it really is long lasting. I'm not sure if these come in other shades, mine is in 01 Midnight black, which is a true black. The tip is quite thin so it is very suitable for a winged line.

What is your favourite Essence product? Let me know.

Love,
